The Mat-Su Outdoorsman Show is the premier spring kickoff event for outdoor enthusiasts across Alaska. Held annually at the Curtis D. Menard Memorial Sports Center in Wasilla, this exciting three-day gathering brings together everything you need to gear up for another unforgettable season in the Last Frontier. Whether you’re a seasoned hunter, passionate angler, or weekend adventurer, the show offers a vibrant marketplace packed with local and regional experts ready to share their knowledge and products.
Family-Friendly Fun for All Ages
The Mat-Su Outdoorsman Show welcomes the whole family with free admission for kids under 12 and discounted rates for military personnel. A highlight this year is the brand-new Kids Trout Fishing Pond, introduced for the 2026 show. Located outside and stocked with 2,000 rainbow trout courtesy of the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) from the William Jack Hernandez Hatchery, children 14 and under can fish for free all weekend. Young anglers get the thrill of catching and keeping (or releasing) their own fish, thanks to generous support from ADF&G and over a dozen additional sponsors. It’s a hands-on way to spark a lifelong love of the outdoors in the next generation of Alaska adventurers.
Wander the aisles filled with wildlife art, taxidermy displays, and hands-on demonstrations that spark excitement for the outdoors. It’s more than just shopping—it’s a community celebration of Alaska’s incredible natural heritage, where you can connect with fellow outdoorsmen and women, ask questions, and leave inspired and prepared for adventures ahead.

Meet outfitters and guides who know Alaska’s remote rivers, lakes, and wilderness like the back of their hand—perfect for planning your next halibut charter, salmon run, bear hunt, or cabin getaway. Informative seminars run throughout the weekend on practical topics like fishing techniques, solar power for off-grid living, and seasonal hunting strategies. Food trucks provide tasty options to keep you fueled while you browse, and show specials often mean great deals you won’t find anywhere else.
